Proactive WordPress Hosting
Responsive, & Phone call friendly.
Why is your web host always last one to know when something is going wrong with your website? Your host should be the FIRST to know! As your web host, we believe it is our responsibility to keep watch over your website by making sure it is secure, online, and up to date. Don’t wait until it is several versions behind, has been hacked, or slowed to a crawl, we can keep your site running well, now and into the future. Wowie hosting stands out in these key areas:
Real Time Security, Hardening, & Hacker Prevention
It’s embarrassing to find out your website has been hacked. One of your customers calls to ask why you are promoting male enhancement products on your home page, or possibly much worse. The longer your site remains hacked, the more likely it is to appear on a black list directory. Your position in Google Search results can be harmed, and emails you send can be automatically flagged as spam.
We take ownership of your website security, worrying about it so you don’t have to. We monitor your site for malware, and when detected immediately take action to remove infected files.
Of course, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that is why we take proactive steps to harder your website against attack. We utilize a network of over 50,000 websites to identify hackers, and block them before they ever arrive at your website. Should they arrive, we limit login attempts to prevent brute force attacks. We proactively scan your site for vulnerabilities, and keep your site updated with the latest security patches. We utilize dedicated servers for each website, remove weak files, and take many other security precautions.
A Dedicated Server
Most of the time your website lives in a shared hosting environment. Think of shared hosting like sharing a house with people you don’t know. You each have your own room with a locking door, and if everyone is doing their part to protect the house, it’s okay. But if someone isn’t locking their windows, an intruder could get into the house and make their way from room to room.
For this reason, we provide each site we host with a dedicated server. Not only does this isolate a website in the event it is compromised, it also reduces the desirability of attacking in the first place. Hackers are more likely to spend their time trying to slip undetected into an apartment complex than they are a single family home with a robust security system in place.
It is useless to make a back up of your computer and store it on your computer. If your computer crashes, there is no way to get to the back up! That’s why every night when we make a back up of your site, we store it on a secure, redundant, remote server. If your website explodes, taking your dedicated server down with it, we will still be able to bring it back, quickly, no questions asked, free of charge. We store back ups for 30 days.
SSL Certificate By Default
A secure connection to your website is provided by an SSL certificate. This allows users to enter data into your website more securely. On 9/17/2016, Google announced they would be cracking down on sites with ouwithout, shaming them with a red X and the message “this website is not private, do not enter sensitive information on this site because it could be stolen by hackers”. Additionally, Google announced it would be rewarding sites with SSL certificates by giving them a boost in search results. On 12/1/2016, WordPress announced full WordPress functionality would require having an SSL certificate in 2017.
Having the secure connection provided by an SSL certificate is a good idea in general, but with the incentives that Google and WordPress are providing, it’s essential.
Typically web hosts charge customers for an SSL certificate, and in many cases the SSL is setup incorrectly. We provide the certificate free of charge, and verify that the SSL certificate is correctly installed on every site we host.
Website Uptime Monitoring
If your site was down right now, would you know? Chances are, you would find out when a customer notifies you. That’s embarrassing. Your next step is to contact your web host, when in our opinion they should be the one contacting you! That’s how it works with Wowie. We monitor your site, checking that it is up and running on a regular basis. If we find that your site is down, we will notify you that we have identified a problem, and that we are taking immediate steps to resolve it. While we monitor your site’s up/down status, we’re happy to report that our servers are up and running 99.99% of the time!
Every month we provide a review of the key factors that influence the SEO and usability of your website, including search engine data, website structure, site performance and others. Our reports provide actionable advice to improve a site’s business objectives. In our report you will find screenshots of what your website looks like to the visitor when they: find you on Google, load your site on a phone, or tablet.
We will look for a wide variety of common onsite SEO issues including, poorly configured header tags, images missing ALT tags, broken links, and many other items. Our report include a website speed test on both desktop and mobile web browsers. If a speed issue is identified, we will often include an in-depth report on the speed of your site and how you can improve it.

We’re also going to make sure your core installation is always running on the latest version of WordPress. This is a proactive security precaution!
